Vishrantwadi, 1st August 2024: The Maha Metro has greenlit the development of a new flyover at Vishrantwadi Chowk, which will connect Airport Road to Alandi Road. This decision follows a comprehensive joint inspection to ensure that the flyover and the proposed Metro line can be constructed without conflicting designs.

Initial groundwork for the flyover has already commenced. However, the Metro line proposal is still under review. Concerns about potential design clashes between the two projects were raised by former corporators during a recent Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) meeting. The meeting, which included Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol, saw discussions on addressing these design conflicts.

As a result of these concerns, work on the flyover was temporarily halted pending the joint inspection by Maha Metro and PMC. An official from APMC confirmed that both agencies have reviewed the designs and concluded that the Metro line can be constructed without interfering with the flyover plans.

The PMC has successfully implemented similar provisions for Metro pillars on another flyover project on Sinhagad Road. The Vishrantwadi Chowk flyover will be the second instance where the civic administration has made provisions to accommodate the Metro line within its design framework.
