Pune: Lonavala Tourist Spots Under New Restrictions Until August 31

Lonavala, 3rd July 2024: In a decisive move following the tragic incident involving the Ansari and Syed families, who were swept away, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered the implementation of new regulations in Lonavala. Effective immediately, tourists are banned from visiting the area where the incident occurred until August 31.

 

The administration has enforced five new rules to ensure the safety of visitors and prevent further mishaps:

 

1. Parking Restrictions: Parking of vehicles on Sahara Bridge is now completely prohibited.

2. Waterfall Access: Access to the top of the three small waterfalls in front of Sahara Bridge is entirely restricted.

3. Bhushi Dam Restrictions: Going upstream from the Bhushi Dam railway guest house is completely prohibited.

4. West Weir Access: The left side of the west weir of Bhushi Dam is restricted from the forest department site to the upstream falls.

5. Timing Restrictions at Key Points: Access to Lions Point, Tiger Point, and Shivling Point is prohibited from 6 PM to 6 AM.

 

The Sahara Bridge, three small waterfalls, Bhushi Dam, the railway section’s upper guest house, Bhushi Dam’s upper west weir, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, and Shivling Point are popular tourist spots that have become increasingly crowded. The administration aims to restrict access to certain dangerous areas within these locations to prevent accidents.

 

The natural beauty of the Lonavala-Khandala area attracts large crowds, especially during the monsoon season. The district administration and police have warned that tourists must adhere to the new regulations. Any disturbances caused by tourists will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those who engage in unruly behavior.
