Pune: Lila Poonawalla Foundation Empowers 1600 Girls with Merit-Cum-Need Scholarships

Pune, 13th December 2023: The Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) has granted Merit-cum-Need Based Scholarships to more than 1,600 meritorious and financially challenged girls for the academic year 2023-2024.

The recipients hail from Pune, Wardha, Amravati, Nagpur, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. Of these, over 1,300 girls are pursuing Undergraduate Degrees in Engineering, Engineering After Diploma, Pharmacy, Nursing, Sciences, and Postgraduate degrees, receiving support for the entire duration of their courses. Additionally, over 260 girls in the 7th grade will continue their education until graduation.

This year, the scholarship award ceremony was conducted through 10 functions across these regions. The girls were honored with the scholarship awards by LPF’s Chairperson, Lila Poonawalla; Founder Trustee, Firoz Poonawalla; LPF’s Board of Trustees, Roda Mehta and Vinita Deshmukh; LPF’s CEO & Trustee, Priti Khare, along with the Leadership team from LPF’s Corporate Partners, Donors, Scholarship Selection Committee Members, and Well-wishers.

“In our 28th year, LPF has reached the milestone of empowering over 15,800 LILA Daughters. Our merit-cum-need based scholarship and skill-building program aim to support these deserving girls in pursuing their education. The variety of skill-building, training programs, industry exposure visits, mentoring, and counseling offered makes these girls confident, knowledgeable, skilled, and employable.

Many of our girls have become successful women leaders, associated with corporates, academic institutions, and healthcare institutes worldwide. These girls are academically, intellectually, economically, and socially empowered, contributing to the economic growth of the globe. They have also become responsible citizens, supporting their families and communities around them. All these LILA Daughters are lifelong members of our ever-growing LPF family.
