Hadapsar, 30th March 2023: A shocking incident has come to light where a young woman and advocate threatened a businessman and extorted Rs 17.50 lakh from him. Hadapsar Police has arrested the lawyer.

The name of the arrested lawyer is Adv Vikram Bhate (35), a resident of Hadapsar. A case has been registered against Nidhi Dixit (25), a resident of Wagholi. In this regard, a 42-year-old businessman from Magarpatta City has filed a complaint at Hadapsar Police Station. The incident occurred between 3rd August 2022 and March 2023 at Seasons Mall, Nidhi Dixit’s house, and Vikram Bhate’s office.

According to the information given by the police, the complainant is a businessman. He went to a restaurant in Seasons Mall with his friends on 3rd August 2022. Reportedly, a girl came to their table and introduced herself as Nidhi Dixit on the pretext of asking for a lighter. She took the complainant’s mobile number saying that she has come to Pune from Mumbai and needed his help for her business.

She then started talking to the complainant on WhatsApp calls. On 7th November, she took him to her flat in Wagholi to talk about business. There she went into the bedroom and came out wearing a transparent night dress. Sitting next to the complainant closely, she took four-five selfies. Then she went back to the bedroom, changed her dress, came out, and started behaving weirdly with the complainant, asking why he came to her place and to leave. Seeing the sudden change in her behaviour, the complainant got scared, left the place, and blocked her mobile number.

Then on 15th November, Nisha Gupta’s lawyer Vikram Bhate called the complainant from her phone. He said, “Nidhi Dixit has filed a complaint against you. If you want to dismiss this matter without going to court, then tell me; I will help you.” When the complainant asked for help, Vikram demanded Rs eight lakh. Due to a lack of money, the complainant gave his six tola gold, a gold neck chain, and a locket to Nisha Gupta and asked Vikram Bhate to get money by keeping it as a pledge in Muthoot Finance.

Then on 16th November, Nisha Gupta gave Rs 1.60 lakh to Vikram Bhate. After that, Vikram Bhate started threatening the complainant from time to time. Bhate also told him that even in the Supreme Court, he would not get bail and kept asking for more money.

After that, Nisha told the complainant that Vikram Bhate, Nidhi Dixit, and Vaibhav Shinde cheat people and extract money from them and that he was also their target. Gupta was told to withdraw money from the complainant’s account, but she declined it, stating the complainant is her good friend. After that, the complainant rushed to the police and lodged a complaint.

Police have arrested Vikram Bhate. Sub-Inspector Sontakke is investigating.
