Sinhagad, 4th December 2023: In a shocking incident at a farmhouse in Paygude Wadi, near Donje village at the foot of Sinhagad, a celebratory gathering turned violent as a heated argument between friends escalated, resulting in a stabbing.

The victim, Dheeraj Madan Shinde (26), a resident of Wadarwadi, Shivajinagar, Pune, was seriously injured when Sagar Somnath Shelar (23), also from Wadarwadi, attacked him with a knife. The incident occurred during a party organized by Salim Javed Shaikh to celebrate the birth of his son.

The altercation unfolded in the early morning hours around a bonfire after a night of revelry. Following the attack, friends rushed the injured Dheeraj to Sassoon Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment, and his condition is reported as stable. A case has been registered against Sagar Shelar at the Haveli police station, and he has been apprehended from the Warje area.

This incident has brought attention to the issue of late-night parties, commonly known as wet parties, in the Sinhagad area. Residents have complained about the noise and disturbances caused by these gatherings, but they claim that the police have not taken effective measures to address the situation. Allegations are being made that such parties continue with the tacit approval of the police. Despite attempts to contact Police Inspector Sachin Wangde of the Haveli Police Station for a statement, there has been no response. Investigations are ongoing, led by Assistant Police Inspector Sagar Pawar under Wangde’s guidance.
