Pune: Kothrud Constituency Heats Up as Minister Chandrakant Patil Faces Challenge from Corporater Amol Balwadkar

Kothrud, 18th October 2024: As the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections approach, competition is intensifying between alliances and parties. In the Kothrud constituency of Pune, Minister and sitting MLA Chandrakant Patil faces a direct challenge from former corporator Amol Balwadkar. Today, the Maharashtra State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited Balwadkar’s home amid concerns that he might rebel. Bawankule aimed to make Balwadkar understand his position and met him at his residence in Baner.

Chandrakant Patil is facing opposition from within the BJP rather than from the opposition parties. Former corporator Amol Balwadkar is challenging Patil directly. Efforts are underway to ensure that party members and leaders do not rebel, as this could impact voter support in the elections. Patil’s candidacy for the Kothrud constituency on behalf of the BJP is widely discussed, and Balwadkar has also expressed his desire to contest the assembly elections as a BJP candidate. Talks suggest that internal disputes have begun within the BJP due to this rivalry. Earlier, Balwadkar held a press conference where he accused Chandrakant Patil directly.
