Pune, 24th July 2024: Due to continuous heavy rainfall in the Khadakwasla Dam area, the water discharge into the Mutha River will be increased from 7,276 cusecs to 9,416 cusecs starting at 11 PM tonight. This adjustment is a response to the recent downpour and aims to manage the water levels effectively.

Shweta Kurhade, Executive Engineer of the Khadakwasla Irrigation Department, stated, “The discharge will be adjusted as necessary based on the rainfall intensity and its impact on the dam’s water levels.”

The increased discharge has already led to significant flooding. Bhide Bridge has been submerged, and nearby riverside roads are also affected. In response to these conditions, the traffic police have closed these routes and are advising commuters to seek alternative paths.
