Swargate, 29th September 2023: In a critical update, authorities have announced that the water discharge from Khadakwasla Dam’s spillway into the Mutha river basin will be increased from 856 cusecs to 1712 cusecs today at midnight. The decision comes in response to a rapid rise in the dam’s water level and heavy rainfall in the catchment area.

Today, September 29, 2023, the Mutha Canal Irrigation Sub-Division in Swargate, Pune, issued an important notice regarding the Khadakwasla Dam. Due to a significant increase in the water level and heavy rainfall in the catchment area, the discharge from the dam’s spillway into the Mutha river basin will be doubled. The new discharge rate will be 1712 cusecs, up from the previous 856 cusecs, effective from midnight today.

The Sub Divisional Engineer of the Mutha Canal Irrigation Sub-Division also noted that there might be further adjustments to the discharge rate. These changes will depend on the amount of rainfall and its timing, indicating that the situation remains fluid.
