Pune: Kaushiki’s Scintillating Performance at the 69th Sawai!

Pune, 17th December 2023: Crowds pulled in by the thousands to listen to the magical voice of Kaushiki Chakraborty on the last day of the iconic 69th Sawai Gandharv Bhimsen Mahotsav held at Maharashtriya Mandal Krida Sankul Mukund Nagar, Pune.

Kaushiki Chakraborty is an illustrious vocalist of the Patiala Gharana and the disciple and daughter of Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty. Known for her pure Classical, Khyals, Dadras, and Thumris, she began her performance with a Vilambit Jhumra ‘Hovan Lagi Saanjh ’ in Raag Puriya Kalyan followed by ‘Sunlino mori sham’ in Drut Taal.
She presented her much-loved performance of all time ‘Aadi Dev Mahadev’ in Raag Yaman. After which she mesmerized the audience with a Thumri ‘Sajanwa Kab Aavoge’ set in Taal Dadra and presented in Raag Pahadi and ‘Rangi Saari Gulabi Chunariya’ in Raag Mishra Pahadi and Taal Dadra

She concluded her session with the melodious Bhajan ‘Hari Om Tatsat’ also in Raag Pahadi.

She was accompanied by Tanmay Deochake on Harmonium, Ojas Adhiya on Tabla, Ustad Murad Ali on Sarangi along with Anuja Bhave and Alapini Nisal on Tanpura.

Expressing gratitude for being able to perform on the Sawai platform, Kaushiki said, “Sawai Gandharv Bhimsen Mahotsav is a pious platform for me. It is one of the stages where performing is like offering a prayer. When I was walking up to the stage, there was Bhimsenji’s voice playing in the background and it felt like the biggest blessing I could seek.”
