Pune-Kanniyakumari Train Plagued by Cockroach Infestation, Passengers Demand Action

Pune, 11th July 2023: In a recent incident on board Train No. 16381, traveling from Pune to Kanniyakumari, passengers were dismayed to find cockroaches running rampant in their seats. The train, which departs from Pune at approximately 12 PM, usually takes a minimum of 36 hours to reach its destination.

One passenger, Abdul Rauf, took immediate action and informed the Train Conductor (TC) about the cockroach infestation. However, to his dismay, the TC responded by attributing the issue to the presence of the pantry on board, suggesting that cockroaches were an inevitable problem and no solution could be provided. Disappointed, Abdul Rauf was left without any resolution to his complaint.

The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), who expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused. The message specifically mentioned the Twitter handle “@sdmepa” and called for their attention, along with a mention of the Ministry of Railways’ official Twitter account, “@RailMinIndia.”

Passengers are now urging railway authorities to take immediate action and address the cockroach infestation issue on the Pune-Kanniyakumari train. The incident has sparked concerns about cleanliness and pest control measures on Indian railways, highlighting the need for prompt intervention to ensure a comfortable and hygienic travel experience for passengers.
