Pune: Inmate Attacked by Trio in Pune’s Yerawada Central Jail Over Suspicion of Informing Rival Group

Yerawada, 26th June 2024: An inmate at Yerawada Central Jail in Pune was attacked by a gang of three fellow inmates on suspicion of providing information to a rival group. A case has been registered against the three assailants.

The accused have been identified as Shrikant Rajendra Kale, Sanjay Harish Bhosale, and Aakash Mangesh Sasawade. The victim of the attack is inmate Yogesh Jagdish Sonawane. Police Officer Revnath Kanade from Yerawada Central Jail filed a complaint with the Yerawada Police Station.

According to police reports, on 14th June, Sonawane was sitting in Barrack No. 1 of the CJ department of Yerawada Central Jail when Kale, Bhosale, and Sasawade called him out. They accused him of informing on them and alleged that he was providing information to a rival group. They then proceeded to kick and punch him. The assault was eventually stopped by jail guards. Assistant Police Inspector Ahire from Yerawada Police Station is investigating the matter further.
