Pune, 28th March 2022: Businessmen from Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon, and other areas are demanding that the planned international airport in Pune should be in the Chakan area.

Abhay Bhor, president of the Forum Of Small Scale Industries Association, fears that if Chakan does not have an airport, industries in the industrial belt will relocate outside Maharashtra.

“About 70% of the industrialists in and around the city have agreed that Chakan should have an airport. Along with Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Ranjangaon, the Talegaon belt is known as ‘Automobile Hub’. There are about 40,000 to 50,000 small and large companies in this area. Many big companies have invested in this area as Chakan was to have an airport.”

However, the proposed airport at Chakan was shifted to Purandar. As a result, the business community have been deceived and many have been disappointed.

“It is possible to reach Navi Mumbai faster than Purandar. Due to the lack of an airport, large industries are feared to relocate from here. Maybe these industries can go beyond Maharashtra”, says Bhor.
