Pune, 23rd April 2023: MKSSS’s Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women ( BNCA ) today inaugurated a state-of-the-art Immersive Design Lab (IDL) and Digital Fabrication Lab (DFL) . The refurbished Digital Fabrication Lab (DFL) was inaugurated at the hands of Atul Chordia Chairman of Panchshil Realty, while Immersive Design Lab (IDL) was inaugurated at the hands of Ranjit Naiknavare President CREDAI Pune . Dr.Anurag Kashyap, Principal BNCA, Jayant Inamdar, Member, Managing Committee MKSSS, Architect Abhay Purohit President Council of Architecture(CoA ) Gajanand Ram, Vice-President, CoA were present on the occasion. Two books on Learning Basic Design and Columbia: India Outside India respectively by Pradnya Chauhan and Dr Ujjwala Anand Palsule were released on this occasion.

Atul Chordia said that Architecture education should involve some lessons of project management. There is a need to bridge the gap in the production cycle of construction industry.

Ranjeet Naiknavare, President Credai Pune said that this college reflects the vision of innovation which is going beyond the curriculum. DFL and Immersive lab is a testament of that. Real Estate today needs a lot of innovation and ideas . Citing the example of Credai, he said Pune has always been a knowledge leader in real estate fraternity as well. Our newer generation in this field are very keen to learn from global leaders , adapt it and give seamless experience to customers . To be able to deliver on time,we need to adopt newer technologies. Therefore we need to collaborate with colleges like BNCA, adopt innovative methods and construct .

Dr.Anurag Kashyap, Principal BNCA said that the labs are a reflection of our quest to establish the latest digital design, fabrication, and visualization facilities. This will further enhance our capacity to innovate and establish future relevance by reimagining the architectural discipline and being future ready and make our professional collaborations much more impactful.

Immersive Design Lab (IDL) is a space equipped with advanced virtual and augmented reality technologies that allow users ( students & professors) to create, design, and experience virtual environments before manufacturing or implementing them in the real world. Immersive Design labs use a combination of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies to create highly interactive and engaging digital experiences. VR technology allows users to fully immerse themselves in a virtual environment, while AR technology overlays digital elements onto the real world. MR technology combines both VR and AR elements, creating an even more immersive experience that allows users to interact with digital objects in the real world.Immersive design labs are commonly used in fields such as architecture, product design, gaming, and education.

Digital Fabrication Lab at BNCA incrementally developed since 2010 is a specialized workshop equipped with advanced digital manufacturing tools, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and robotic arms. These tools enable users (students, professors & researchers) to transform digital designs into physical objects, allowing for rapid prototyping, customization, and production of complex geometries.

Digital fabrication lab provides services to a wide range of industries such as product design, engineering, architecture, and manufacturing. DFL allow users to quickly and easily produce prototypes, test designs, and manufacture customized products.

Digital technologies & Fabrication Lab at BNCA also enables the creation of complex and intricate structures that would be difficult or impossible to produce using traditional manufacturing methods.

Prof Mahesh Bangad proposed the vote of thanks.
