Pune: IMD Issues Orange Alert For Today, Rainfall For Entire Month Of September Recorded In Just Two Hours Yesterday

Pune, 26th September 2024: Pune city receives an average rainfall of 143.6 mm in the month of September. On Wednesday (25th September) afternoon, 124 mm of rainfall was recorded in just two hours which was reportedly 90% of the September average rainfall recorded. The city has recorded only 43.4 mm of rain till Tuesday (24th September). A total of 1,100 mm of rain has been recorded in Pune city from 1st June to 5.30 pm on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city along with Pune district today. Moderate to heavy rains with gales, and thundershowers are forecast. Overcast conditions in the city and suburbs in the morning followed by heavy rains with thunderstorms are forecast in the afternoon.

Yesterday, around three in the afternoon, dark clouds appeared in the sky. It got dark and the rain started around 2.30 pm and then poured heavily by 4.00 pm.

A total of 127.5 mm of rain was recorded in Chinchwad and 124 mm in Shivajinagar till 5.30 pm on Wednesday. Among them, 71.5 mm of rain has been recorded in Vadgaon Sheri, Koregaon Park 63.0, NDA 42.0, Hadapsar 38.0, Pashan 19.8 and Haveli 12.5 mm. Not much rainfall was recorded in the rural areas of the district. Narayangaon recorded 55.0 mm, Khed 41.0, Bhor 30.0, Lonavala 26.0 and Baramati 21.0 mm.
