Pune: Illegal Hoardings And Flexes Cause Commotion In Citizens; Demands Punitive Action

Katraj, 29th August 2024: In the background of the festival, it is seen that a large number of hoardings and flexes at the main chowks, roads, and street lights defacing certain localities near the Katraj area of Pune. Citizens have pointed out that the Local Sky Sign Department is conveniently ignoring these illegal big flexes.

Illegal flexes have been installed at various places like Katraj Chowk, Santoshnagar, Katraj-Kondhwa Road, Sukhsagarnagar, Gokulnagar, Bharti University, Mangdewadi, Gujar-Nimbalkarwadi Road.

During the last month, when there has been a need to take concrete action from the Local Sky Sign Department of both the Dhankawadi – Sahakar Nagar Ward Office and the Kondhwa – Yewalewadi Ward Office, due to a delay in the same has caused a large amount of flexing.

When the hoarding is placed on the official hoarding, it is expected to have the license number issued by the Municipality. It is seen that unauthorized flexes are being installed at many places on Katraj-Kondhwa road. This seems to be a meaningful oversight of the Local Sky Sign Department. Due to this, it has come to light that the traffic is also obstructed in many places.

It has come to light that the officials of the same department give vague answers when asked about the same.

Yogesh Kakade, Inspector, Local Sky Sign Department of Kondhwa Yewalewadi Ward Office stated that the work is halted due to less manpower. However, why is no penal action taken against the one involved in installments of such illegal flex? And even after taking punitive action, why are the crimes not registered? Such questions are being raised.

Surekha Bhange, Assistant Commissioner, Dhankawadi Sahakarnagar ward Office stated that actions are taken against people installing illegal flex. Last year, strict action was taken against those doing the same during the festive season.

“The issue of flexes has raised a commotion and the concerned will be ordered to take immediate action. Flexes on internal minor roads and main roads will be removed. Also, penal action will be taken for the same,” she added further.
