Pune: IAS Officer Puja Khedkar’s Parents Booked For Assaulting, Intimidating Farmers

Pune, 12th July 2024: A case has been registered at the Paud Police Station, Pune rural police, against multiple individuals, including Manorama Khedkar and Dilip Khedkar, parents of controversial probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar. The charges stem from an alleged assault and threat incident that took place in June last year.

The complainant, Pandharinath Kondiba Pasalkar, a 65-year-old farmer from Kedgaon (Ambegaon Punvarsan), filed the complaint today after seeing a related news segment on a news channel. The accused also include Ambadas Khedkar from Ambi, four bouncers including two women, along with other unidentified individuals.

The incident occurred on June 4, 2023, at 1 PM and again on June 5, 2023, at 4:00 PM at Survey No.12/1 open land plot in Dhadwali village (located between Panshet and Varasgaon dams), Mulshi taluka of Pune district, Maharashtra.

According to Pasalkar, the group, led by Manorama and Dilip Khedkar, both residents of National Housing Society, Baner Road, Aundh, Pune, assaulted and threatened him and his family on their land. The accused allegedly used a pistol during the altercation.

Pasalkar stated, “After discussing the incident with my children today, I decided to file a complaint. The accused persons beat us, insulted us, and threatened to kill us with a pistol.”

Now police have booked the accused persons for offences under sections 323 (causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 143, 144, 147, 148, and 149 related to unlawful assembly and rioting. Additionally, charges under the Arms Act have been included.

Police sub inspector Jadhav is further investigating the case.
