Kondhwa, 16th April 2023: Heavy rains and gusty winds caused two hoarding structures to fall near Vibgyor High school in the evening in Mohammadwadi, Pune.

One hoarding structure was installed in a private plot, and it fell onto the road leading to Royale Heritage Mall, while the other fell on an open plot. Fortunately, no vehicles were passing by on the road when the incident occurred. However, the incident disrupted vehicular movement and could have been fatal for many, as the route is important at the moment due to the closure of the NIBM road for traffic.

A resident of the area reported the incident to the disaster management helpline, and the complaint was forwarded to the ward officer of the Hadapsar ward office, Prasad Katkar. The local residents are demanding that stern action be taken against the hoarding site owners, as many hoardings have been illegally erected in the area, posing a significant threat to the residents living in the area.

The ward officer stated that if the structure is found to be illegally raised, stern action will be taken against the hoarding site owner. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of hoarding structures during adverse weather conditions and the need for stricter regulations to ensure public safety.
