Pune Hit-and-Run Incident Claims Life of KEM Hospital Employee

Talegaon Dabhade, 10th July 2024: The trend of hit-and-run incidents shows no sign of stopping in Pune District, as a woman employed at Pune’s KEM Hospital was killed in an accident under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC). The driver of a speeding, uncontrollable vehicle hit the woman from behind and failed to stop after the collision. This incident occurred yesterday at 5:15 AM in front of Sant Dnyaneshwar Primary School on Talegaon-Chakan Road.

The deceased has been identified as Aasha Nandkumar Shivale, aged 59. Her nephew, Mayur Anand Dabhade (27), a resident of Talegaon Dabhade, filed a complaint at Talegaon Dabhade Police Station. A case has been registered against the unknown driver of the vehicle under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), and 125 (act endangering lives or personal safety of others) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

According to police reports, Aasha Shivale was on her way to work at KEM Hospital in Pune around 5:15 AM on Tuesday. As she reached in front of Sant Dnyaneshwar Primary School on Talegaon-Chakan Road, she was struck from behind by a speeding vehicle traveling from Chakan towards Talegaon. Shivale was run over by the vehicle, causing fatal injuries. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid or report the accident. Despite serious injuries, Shivale succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Her nephew promptly reported the incident to the police, and Police Sub Inspector Ware from Talegaon Dabhade Police Station is currently investigating the case.
