Pune: Hinjawadi Hotel Owner Victim of Rs 8 Lakh Fraud by Front Office Employees

Hinjawadi, 30th May 2024: A hotel owner was swindled out of lakhs of rupees when his employees redirected multiple payments from customers into their accounts. The victim of this scam is the owner of a prominent hotel in Hinjawadi, as the Pimpri Chinchwad police have registered a case against four restaurant employees. This fraudulent activity transpired over the past year at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Hinjawadi.

The 62-year-old complainant has filed a complaint with the Hinjawadi Police Station. The police have registered a case against Buddhabhushan Gangadhar Gajbhare (30, resident of Marunji), Gita Niranjan Jana (aged 23, resident of Hinjawadi), Kartik Pandey (details and address unknown), and Karan Baburao Naik (aged 22, resident of Hinjawadi).

According to police, the complainant Pimple employed these individuals approximately a year ago. Hilton Garden Inn is renowned for its accommodation, dining, and bar services, along with various events organized due to its exceptional service. Over the past year, these fraudulent employees, stationed at the hotel’s front office, diverted customers’ bill payments into their personal bank accounts by claiming that the card swipe machine was malfunctioning. In this time frame, they swindled the hotel owner out of approximately Rs 8,00,000.

The Hinjawadi Police have registered a case against the accused under IPC Sections 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant) and 34 (acts done by several individuals with furtherance of common intention). Assistant Police Inspector Mahale from Hinjawadi Police Station is further investigating the matter.
