Pune: Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in Lonavala, Damaging Shops and Homes

Lonavala, 5th August 2024: Heavy rains in Lonavala over the past two days have led to significant flooding on roads around the Lonavala Bus Stand. The accumulating water has inundated several shops, causing substantial damage to their goods. Local business owners have reported that this issue worsens each year due to recurring water accumulation in the area.

Clogged drains in the Gawli Wada Bus Stand area, obstructed by cables, water pipes, garbage, and plastic, have exacerbated the flooding. The drains have become smaller over time, further impeding water flow.

Floodwaters have also affected residential areas, including Pangare Chawl, Nisarg Nagari in G Ward, Badrivishal Society, the road leading to Shree Narayani Dham Temple, the main road of Nangargaon opposite Adarsh Colony, the road leading to Baapdev Temple, and Shahani Road.
