Pune, 14th September 2024: Rahul Gandhi, while speaking in the United States, said that cancelling reservations is appropriate when India is a ‘fair’ state, which is not the case now. Yesterday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested Gandhi’s statement across Maharashtra, including Pune. The protest, led by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, took place in front of the Pune District Collector’s Office. During the event, Patil responded with sharp criticisms of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress.

Present at the protest were Maharashtra State President of the Scheduled Castes Morcha Dilip Kamble, Maharashtra State BJP Secretary Varsha Dahale, Pune City BJP General Secretary Puneet Joshi, and Raju Shilimkar, among others.

Chandrakant Patil remarked, “Rahul Gandhi and his colleagues are adept at spreading false propaganda among the masses. Even in Maharashtra, their stance on Maratha and OBC reservations is inconsistent. The Congress misused the constitutional amendment, imposed Emergency on the country, jailed 20 lakh citizens, suppressed fundamental freedoms, and dismissed elected state governments 40 times.”
