Pune Gurdwara Celebrates Baisakhi with Community Unity and Environmental Awareness

Camp, 13th April 2025: The Sikh Helpline Foundation celebrated Baisakhi with great fervor and community spirit at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, Pune Camp. The event attracted visitors from across the city and various walks of life, including Sikhs, Sindhis, and people from other communities, who united in harmony to commemorate this significant occasion.
Baisakhi marks a pivotal moment in Sikh history—on this day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded the Khalsa Panth, transforming Sikhs into a community of saint-soldiers committed to justice, equality, and selfless service. Also known as Khalsa Sajna Diwas, this day reminds the community of its roots in sacrifice, discipline, and spiritual courage.
The celebrations began at 6:00 a.m. with soulful Shabad Kirtan, continuing until 2:00 p.m., enveloping the Gurdwara in a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Devotees offered prayers, listened to kirtan, and partook in langar, marking the day with devotion and unity.
In alignment with the spirit of seva, the Sikh Helpline Foundation took a green initiative by distributing over 1,000 Tulsi saplings free of cost to all visitors, encouraging them to take home a symbol of purity and sustainability.
The event was graced by dignitaries such as DCP Gill from Faraskhana Police Station and renowned Advocate N.D. Patil, along with active participation from the Saras Katta Group, whose presence contributed to the collective energy of the day.
Raj Singh, founder of the Sikh Helpline Foundation, shared, “Baisakhi is a reminder that service to humanity and nature is central to Sikh values. Through this sapling distribution, we hope to encourage every household to nurture life—just as the Khalsa was created to protect and uplift.”
The celebration beautifully blended faith, community, and environmental consciousness, making it a meaningful tribute to Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s vision and a step toward a greener, more connected society.
