Pune: GST Department Arrests Trader For Cheating Government Of Rs 13 Crores
Pune, 15th July 2022: The officials from Maharashtra state GST department have arrested a businessman for allegedly cheating the government of Rs 13 crore.
He had allegedly taken bogus input tax credit and passed tax credit on the basis of fake purchase and sale bills of around Rs 72.68 crore. He has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
The name of the arrested person is Daulat Shivlal Chaudhary of M/s Shiv Steel Traders. An in-depth analysis was done based on the various analysis systems available from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department. It was revealed that he has duped the government of Rs 13 crores. Accordingly, the trader was arrested.
The state GST Department has so far arrested 27 tax evaders during the current financial year.
