Pimpri, 17th November 2023: In anticipation of the Sakal Maratha Samaj meeting scheduled for 20th November at Mahalakshmi Lawns, Pune Nagar Road, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dr Shivaji Pawar, has issued a traffic advisory to ensure the safe and smooth flow of traffic in Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune. The meeting, featuring the presence of Maratha Leader Manoj Jarange Patil, is expected to draw around one and a half lakh citizens, potentially leading to traffic congestion.

Considering the influx of citizens and the coinciding return of vehicles from the Diwali festival, particularly those coming from their native villages, traffic jams on the city road are anticipated. In light of this, temporary traffic changes have been announced, primarily affecting heavy vehicles from the Pimpri Chinchwad side.

According to the notification, Dr Shivaji Pawar outlines the following temporary traffic changes:

For Nigdi, Talawade, Bhosari, and Chakan under Traffic Division:
– Entry of all types of heavy/unwieldy vehicles from the Pimpri Chinchwad side to Nagar Road via the Pune side is prohibited.

Alternative Routes:
1. Heavy vehicles from Old Mumbai Pune Highway will proceed towards the city via Bhakti Shakti Chowk- Moshi Toll Gate- Chakan- Shikrapur.
2. Heavy vehicles in the Pimpri Chinchwad area at Nashik Phata will go to the city via Bhosari-Chakan.

The traffic changes are temporary and apply only to non-essential service vehicles. Essential service vehicles, including police, ambulance, fire brigade, petrol and diesel tankers, PMPML buses, school buses, etc., are exempt from these restrictions.
