Pune Gears Up For Raksha Bandhan: PMPML Rolls Out Extra 96 Buses

Pune, 28th August 2023: In Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities, arrangements have been made by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) to provide more buses than the usual daily count for the convenience of commuters on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, on the occasion of the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

Every year on Raksha Bandhan, a considerable number of people travel to celebrate the festival with their families. To accommodate this increased demand, the PMPML has planned to deploy a total of 1,933 buses, which is an addition of 96 buses beyond the regular 1,837 buses that operate daily. These additional buses will be available on various routes from key bus terminals like Katraj, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Saswad, Hadapsar, Wagholi, Jejuri, Alandi, Bhosari, Talegaon, Rajgurunagar, and Dehu Road, among others.

To facilitate this, the weekly offs for bus operators, drivers, and supervisory staff have been canceled. Moreover, essential locations for bus operations will be under the supervision of designated authorities to maintain control over transportation services. The buses’ scheduling for the day of Raksha Bandhan, August 30, 2023, and the following day, August 31, 2023, has been adjusted accordingly.

Additionally, officers, clerks, and other employees from PMPML will be stationed at important terminals and halts to guide and manage passenger entry and bus operations effectively.
