Pune Gears Up for Annual Palkhi Procession with Google-Assisted Traffic Management; Check Diversion Map, QR Code

Pune, 29th June 2024: On June 30 (Sunday), the palanquins of Sant Shree Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj will converge in Pune city. To manage the influx of devotees and avoid traffic congestion, the Pune City Traffic Branch has issued a notification announcing road closures and traffic diversions on this day.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) Rohidas Pawar stated, “The Pune City Police Commissionerate is collaborating with Google to utilize modern technology. This partnership aims to provide accurate information about the palanquin routes, road closures, and traffic changes during the Palkhi period. Citizens will be able to access real-time information on Google Maps, which will help motorists plan their journeys accordingly.”

Sant Shree Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi is coming via the old Mumbai-Pune highway, while Sant Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi is coming via Alandi Road and Sangamwadi Road. They will meet at Wakdewadi/COEP Chowk on Sunday afternoon. From there, they will proceed via University Road, FC Road, and Laxmi Road to reach Bhawani Peth and Nana Peth on Sunday night, where they will stay until Monday. Both Palkhis will depart early Tuesday morning for Hadapsar via Solapur Road.
