Pune: Gangs Snatching Mangalsutras Of Women Arrested By Sinhagad Police; Ten Cases Solved
Sinhagad Road, 31st January 2023: The team of the Sinhgad Road police station has achieved great success in preventing the increasing incidents of mangal sutra snatching (Chain Snatching). As many as ten mangalsutras were seized from the two accused who were arrested in the trap by the investigation team.
Police Officers Rahul Olekar, Shivaji Kshirsagar, and Amol Patil from the Sinhagad Road police station received information that the thieves stealing mangalsutras from Suncity Road, Dhayari will be coming into the area. Accordingly, a trap was laid at the Khade washing center at Suncity Road.
According to information received, the accused Dnyaneshwar alias Mauli Bhikaji Chavan (20), a resident of Dhangar Vasti, Devachi Urli, and Raju Mahadev Dengle (19), a resident of Pratiknagar, Katraj were detained. When the accused were interrogated, they confessed that with the help of another accomplice named Gajanan Dattatray Borhade (30), a resident of Hivarkar Mala, Saswad Road, Pune, on January 3, they forcibly grabbed the mangal sutra of a woman from Dhayari near the bus stop near Hotel Girija.
In the said crime, the accused were arrested and further investigated in police custody and it was revealed that ten crimes were committed by them in areas under the jurisdiction of Sinhagad Road police station, Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station, Samarth Police Station, Hadapsar Police Station, and Kondhwa Police Station.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajendra Dahale, DCP (Zone 3) Suhail Sharma and, ACP Rajendra Galande.
The team included Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Sankhe, Inspector (Crime) Jayant Rajurkar, API Sachin Nikam, PSI Ganesh Mokashi, ASI Aba Uttekar, and police personnel Sanjay Shinde, Dhananjay Shete, Sunil Salunkhe, Raju Vegre, Amit Bodre, Deva Chavan, Rahul Olekar, Shivaji Kshirsagar, Avinash Konde, Amol Patil, Swapnil Magar, Vikas Pandule, Vikas Bandal, Sagar Shendge.
