Pune: Gambler Dies After Jumping from Second Floor During Police Raid

Nana Peth, 27th September 2024: A 54-year-old man identified as Brian Rudolph Gear died after jumping from the second floor of a building while attempting to evade police action. The incident occurred during a raid conducted by the crime branch at a gambling den.

According to police, they had received information about ongoing gambling activities on the second floor of a residential society opposite Christ Church in Nana Peth. Acting on this tip-off, a police team arrived at the location to conduct a raid. Upon reaching the second floor, officers knocked on the door, which was opened by one of the gamblers inside. However, upon spotting the police, he alerted the others, causing panic among the players.

In the ensuing chaos, Brian jumped from the second floor in a desperate attempt to escape. He sustained serious injuries from the fall and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, Brian succumbed to his injuries late at night.

The police have launched a search for the owner of the gambling den and others who were present during the raid.
