Pune: Frustrated Passengers Demands To Resume Stoppage At Bhigwan Station

Pune, 25th October 2024: The stops of express trains at Bhigwan railway station have been closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, even after two years, these stops have not been started. Commuters from villages in the eastern part of Daund taluka are demanding to start the stops at the earliest.

Although Bhigwan railway station is in Indapur taluka, the station is a convenient place for commuters from Daund, Baramati, Karjat, Karmala, and Indapur talukas. Bhigwan is the nearest stop for commuters from the villages of Rajegaon, Khanwate, Watluj, Naigaon, Khadki, and Swami-Chincholi in the eastern part of Daund taluka.

Many people have been affected by the closure of express train stops at Bhigwan railway station since the Corona pandemic. Presently, apart from MEMU and DEMU passengers, no express train stops at this station, causing great inconvenience. There is a demand from the passengers to resume the stops of the express trains.

Hyderabad-Mumbai Express (7.00 am)

Chennai-Mumbai Mail (9.00 pm)

Passengers are demanding the stoppage of the trains Hyderabad, Chennai Express, Siddheshwar, Bijapur Superfast, Sainagar Shirdi, etc at Bhigwan station.

Due to the haulage of stops, the villagers staged a rail stop protest on 27th February. At this time, cases were also filed against 25 to 30 people. But the stoppage of express trains has not been restored yet. Normally 150 passengers used to travel on these trains every day. During Diwali, many passengers have to travel by alternative route, and the journey is said to be expensive.

Many children from poor families are deprived of education due to the same. There is a feeling of frustration among the passengers as their repeated requests to the senior public representatives are not getting the expected success. Frustrated passengers stated that if there are any technical difficulties in stopping these trains, seven DEMU trains running from Daund to Pune should be run from Bhigwan to Pune.
