Pune: Founder Of Sandesh Library Salim Shaikh Passes Away

Pune, 15th March 2021: Social activist and founder of Sandesh Library Salim Shaikh passed away in Pune. He was known for his reformist thoughts. He had written several books that included modern science, the contribution of Muslims in Science, Freedom struggle among many others.

He started Sandesh library at a masjid in Wakadewadi which turned out to be a library that initiated intellectual thought process in the society. He was instrumental in spreading awareness about female foeticide in society.

He was awarded with ‘Maulana Azad’, award by Pune Municipal Corporation for his book. He was a scholar in Quran Sharif and used to give lectures. He also motivated the Muslim youths to express themselves in Marathi.

He was a strong advocate of one humanity and always stood for values of truth, justice and brotherhood.

Mulniwasi Muslim Manch President Anjum Inamdar, his close friend said, “His death is great loss for socio-intellectual world as he always stood for spreading truth, justice and oneness amongst the people. We will remember him for his values, integrity and commitment towards peace and united humanity.”
