Pune, 13th March 2023: If the roads leading to the forts, reminders of Maharashtra’s history, are also developed, tourism in these areas will get a boost. If the trail leading to the forts is made safe and health facilities are available, it will benefit the trekkers and the tourists.

There are more than 300 forts in Maharashtra. Most forts are in Raigad, Nashik, Pune, Sindhudurg, and Satara districts. Tourists from across the world visit these forts due to their rich history.

At present, the roads leading to the forts in some districts are narrow. So the development of these roads is necessary. In some places, there is an arrangement to take vehicles. However, to reach many forts, one has to park vehicles at the base and walk. But, since the trail is not safe, safety issue arises for children and senior citizens. The trail is natural but if made safe, the number of tourists will increase.

There should be boards with detailed information about how the system was in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj period. It will bring out the work, management, politics, and prowess of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is also necessary to have an adequate power supply.

Incidents of injuries or death due to a slip or fall down the hill, in need of medical facilities, also occur at the forts. It is necessary to have health facilities and aid teams to get immediate treatment for the injured. Tourism at the fort will be even safer if these basic facilities are provided.
