Pune: Former RSS Pracharak Sunil Deodhar Gears Up for Lok Sabha Elections, Emphasizes ‘Punekar’ Identity

Pune, 14th November 2023: With the Lok Sabha elections looming just a few months away, the political landscape in Pune is abuzz with activity. Former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) campaigner and ex-BJP National Secretary Sunil Deodhar has thrown his hat into the ring, sparking discussions about the potential BJP candidate for the upcoming elections.

As the political gears start turning in preparation for the elections scheduled for March-April, notable figures are being considered for the Pune Lok Sabha seat. The names circulating include former mayor and state general secretary Muralidhar Mohol, former city president and ex-MLA Jagdish Mulik, and even the family members of the late MP Girish Bapat, who have expressed interest in contesting.

While official candidature claims are yet to be made, both Mulik and Mohol have initiated preparations, hinting at their aspirations by displaying placards featuring the new Parliament building. The political landscape further stirred when the name of Sunil Deodhar entered the conversation.

Sources within the BJP suggest that senior party leaders have recommended Deodhar’s focus on Pune.

In response to the discussions surrounding his candidacy, Sunil Deodhar has swiftly kicked off his election preparations. Engaging in public events, meetings with party leaders, and interactions with office bearers, Deodhar is actively reaching out to various constituents. His public presence has notably increased in recent times, aligning with his emphasis on the ‘Punekar’ identity as a focal point for his campaign.
