Pune, January 15, 2021: The forest department has cleared the way for recruitment of veterinarian officers by fixing up the responsibilities of the officials. There was a demand for such officers in the department for a long time.

The department on Thursday (14th January) held a meeting under the leadership of forest minister Sanjay Rathod. Many senior officers from the department were present at this meeting. The role and responsibilities of a veterinarian (group ‘A’), Assistant veterinary officers – Wildlife (group ‘A’) and deputy veterinary officers-Wildlife (group ‘A’) were decided in this meeting. This bifurcation of responsibilities helps the department to allocate exact responsibilities to the officers. Hence the recruitment procedure can begin soon.

The veterinary officers are required to take care of wild animals in captivity as well as in the time of conflicts in civil areas. There is a huge shortage of such officers and demand was there within the department for a long time.
