Pune Football News: City F.C Pune, Rahul F.A, NDA Youth Sport Club, Sangam ‘B’ enter last 8
Pune, 13th May 2023: City F.C Pune, Rahul F.A, NDA Youth Sport Club were made to sweat, while Sangam Young Boys breezed through to enter the quarterfinals of the inaugural Aspire Cup 2023 (Second-Third Division) Football Tournament, at the Dr. Hedgewar ground, Pimpri here on Saturday.
The tournament is being played under the aegis of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA) and organised by Aspire India.
The day began with City F.C Pune registering a solitary 1-0 goal win over Akhil Bhusari Colony (ABC) F.C. The match-winner was netted by Rohit Rawat (24th).
Later, NDA Youth Sports Club advanced via the tiebreaker pushing aside the challange of Sunny Days. Both teams played out a 1-1 draw in regulation time, before NDA Youth Sports Club locked victory 5-4 via the tie breaker.
Sandeep Singh (19th) gave NDA Y.S.C the lead, before Yezaz Shaikh (29th) put the score on levels.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, NDA Youth Sports Clubhad Ritesh Thakur, Sudhir Kumar, Dinesh Mane, Sandeep Singh, Ajesh CA score successfully, while Sohail Shaikh, Vishal Benvansh, Shubham Tembhurne, Sunder Velu gained success for Sunny Days after Edison Nadar failed to score.
Rahul F.A, meanwhile, fought off the challenge of Noisy Boys 2-1.
Ruturaj Gavli (9th) gave Rahul F.A the early lead. Noisy Boys then had to wait untill the second-half to level terms when Om Patankar (38th) netted. Rahul F.A left it late with a strike by Kapil Valecha (47th).
In the last match of the day, Sangam Y.B ‘B’ logged the easiest win of the day downing Pune Pioneers 3-0. Vipul Gophane (4th) opened the scoring, before a brace by Irfan Ansari (6th, 22nd) took the game away.
