Market Yard, 6th September 2024: Preparations for Ganeshotsav are visible everywhere in Maharashtra. As the festival begins tomorrow, people are flocking to markets to buy worship materials and offerings for Lord Ganesha. A large crowd is seen purchasing fruits, flowers, and 21 favourite vegetables for the beloved Bappa. The demand for flowers for Bappa’s decoration has surged, leading to an increase in prices. This has benefited flower-producing farmers.

In Pune, people have thronged the market yard area to buy flowers for their Ganesh idols. Various types of flowers are available, including marigolds, roses, and jasmine. Due to the high demand, prices have risen significantly. Arun Haribhau Veer, President of the Flower Market, provided the following price information:

– Marigold: ₹50 to ₹80 per kg
– Chrysanthemum: ₹150 to ₹200 per kg
– Roses: 20 flowers for ₹200
– Daisy: ₹250 to ₹300 per kg
– Lily: ₹50 per kg
– Tuberose: ₹1400 per kg

Tuberose is currently the most expensive flower in the market, priced at ₹1400 per kg. The high cost is due to reduced production. This year, the price of tuberose has increased significantly. White tuberose, used for decorating Bappa, is fetching a good price and is now sold at a higher price than dry fruits in Pune’s market yard.
