Pune: First Day of Sawai Gandharva ends with a performance by Pt. Ajay Chakrabarty

Pune, 18th Dec 2024: 70th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav’s second session of Day 1 started with a performance by Dr. L. Subramaniam and his disciple-son, Ambi Subramaniam. He started with raag abhogi and then played Ragam Tanam Pallavi in Raag Nasika Bhushani. Tanmay Bose accompanied L. Subramanian on Tabla, Radhakrishnan on ghatam, Satyasai on morling, K. Shekhar on Tambi, and Vinayak Koli on Tanpura.

Day one ended with a performance by Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty who belongs to Patiyala Gharana. Before starting his performance, he played tribute to his friend, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and shared his memories with him. He started with raag bihag and enthralled the audience with his performance. While ending his performance, he sang thumri in Khamaj. He was accompanied by Ajay Joglekar on harmonium, Shrikalyan Chakrabarty on tabla, Meher Paralikar, and Amol Nisal on Tanpura during his performance.
