Pune: Firefighters Battle Intense Blaze in Market Yard Godown, Save Nearby Residential Building

Pune, 29th May 2023: A fire broke out in a godown located at Market Yard, Gol Market, around 01:05 am, prompting a swift response from the fire brigade. Nobody was injured in the fire incident.

Upon reaching the spot, the fire personnel were met with a large blaze engulfing a 5000 sq. ft. godown. Acting quickly, they used bolt cutters to unlock the main door and began spraying water from all sides to ensure the safety of any workers or bystanders who might have been trapped inside.

Given the intensity of the fire, additional fire tenders were called to the scene. With a nearby residential building at risk, the fire brigade took special precautions to prevent the fire from spreading in that direction. It took approximately one hour to bring the fire under control, with a continuous supply of water being utilized. The fire resulted in the destruction of the waste paper stored in the godown.

Two tempos that were present in the godown were also consumed by the flames. The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.

The firefighting operation was carried out under the guidance of Assistant Divisional Fire Officer Vijay Bhilare.
