Pune: Fire Breaks Out During Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Procession, Promptly Contained

Jejuri, 4th July 2024: This morning at 10 AM, on Saswad Jejuri Road near Walunj Phata, a fire broke out during the Sant Shrestha Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession. While Dindi number 78 was preparing food, a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder caught fire. The Warkaris attempted to extinguish the blaze by throwing sand on the burning cylinder and contacted the fire brigade personnel overseeing the Palkhi ceremony.

The Pune Fire Brigade promptly arrived at the scene, doused the flames with water, and successfully brought the fire under control, averting a major disaster. Fire brigade vehicles from Alandi to Pandharpur have been deployed for years to ensure the safety of the Warkaris and provide immediate assistance in case of fires or emergencies. Fire brigade vehicles from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), and other municipalities are available for deployment.

Thanks to the timely intervention of the Pune Fire Brigade personnel, the fire was controlled, and the Warkari community expressed their gratitude. Chief of Pune Fire Brigade Devendra Potfode commended the officers and soldiers for their efforts. Fire Officer Pramod Sonawane, Driver Narayan Jagtap, Tandel Vilas Dadas, Firemen Babasaheb Chavan and Chandrakant Navale, and Yuvraj Gawari all participated in this successful operation.
