Pune: Father-Son Team Nabbed in Connection with Rs 3,500 Crore Dnyanradha Society Scam

Pimpri Chinchwad, 31st August 2024: A father-son duo has been arrested by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police for duping lakhs of depositors out of more than ₹3,500 crores. They had been absconding in connection with over 42 criminal cases. The major fraud occurred in Beed district, where depositors of Dnyanradha Multistate Co-operative Society Limited were defrauded. This action was taken by the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC).

The Anti-Extortion Squad has arrested the Chairman and Director, a father-son duo, of Dnyanradha Multistate Co-operative Society Limited. They are Yashwant Vasantrao Kulkarni (55) and his son Vaibhav Yashwant Kulkarni (24), both residents of Punawale and natives of Beed.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Chief had ordered the tracking of history sheeters, absconding criminals, and wanted offenders, and to take necessary actions before Ganesh Utsav. In response, the Anti-Extortion Squad of PCPC began gathering information.

Police Constable Ganesh Girigosavi received a tip from a confidential source that the father-son duo responsible for the Dnyanradha Multistate Co-operative Society Limited scam was heading to Phoenix Mall of the Millennium in Wakad. A reward had previously been announced for information leading to their capture. The squad set up a trap and arrested the father-son duo. During their detention and questioning, it was revealed that there were 42 cases registered against them in multiple incidents. The accused have been handed over to the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the Economic Offense Wing (EOW) of Beed Police for further investigation.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 2) Balasaheb Kopnar. The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Devendra Chavan, included Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Bhadane, Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Amar Raut, and Police Constables Ganesh Girigosavi, Sunil Kangude, Kiran Katkar, Kishore Kamble, Bhupendra Chaudhary, and Pradeep Gaikwad.
