Pune: Father Commits Suicide After Man Threatens to Marry Daughter
Hadapsar, 16th May 2023: A distressing incident has emerged in which a father took his own life by hanging himself after receiving threats from a man who demanded that his daughter marry him. Pune police have now filed a case against the young man involved.
The deceased father has been identified as Parameshwar Ramesh Patre (40), residing in Ganaje Nagar, Hadapsar. Mukesh Gopal Dede (21), residing in Kharadi, has been named as the accused. A complaint has been lodged by Parameshwar Patre’s wife at the Hadapsar police station.
According to police, Dede, who is currently unemployed, had proposed marriage to Patre’s daughter. However, due to his lack of employment, the girl’s father began seeking other marriage prospects for her. Dede started threatening Parameshwar, stating that if the girl did not marry him, she would not be allowed to marry anyone else. Distressed by the constant threats, Parameshwar took his own life by hanging himself. Following the funeral, Parameshwar’s wife lodged a complaint with the police.
The investigation is currently being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Digambar Sontakke.
