Saswad, 16th April 2023: The Pune rural police has taken a man into custody for driving around in a private four-wheeler that had a signboard of a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Saswad, Purandar taluka. The authorities imposed a fine of Rs 6,500 and took punitive action against him, removing the logo from his car.

According to reports, the police spotted a four-wheeler with a circular green sticker that read “Maharashtra Assembly Member; MLA” with an image of Ashok Stambh in the middle pasted on the front of the car. Although the police tried to chase the car down, they were unable to capture it. However, the police found the same car at the Jejuri Naka blockade this morning.

Upon inquiry, the police discovered that the vehicle did not belong to any MLA. The owner of the car was identified as Ruturaj Gaikwad, a resident of Kalewadi. Furthermore, the car had a fancy number plate and tinted windows, and the driver did not possess a driving license.

As per the Motor Vehicle Act, the police confiscated the logo of the car and imposed a fine of Rs 6,500. The Saswad Police stated that it is illegal to display such logos on vehicles, and legal action will be taken against anyone who violates this rule.
