Pune: Ethanol Man of India, Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Steps Down as COEP BoG Chair, Donates Rs 1 Crore
Pune, 19th October 2024: Renowned industrialist and the Ethanol Man of India Dr Pramod Chaudhari today welcomed Vinayak Pai who recently assumed the charge of Chairman, Board of Governance (BoG), COEP Tech University after Dr Pramod Chaudhari decided to step down due to personal reasons.
During the farewell ceremony organized by the members of the Board of Governance of COEP, Dr Pramod Chaudhari welcomed Pai and wished him good luck in this new role at BoG. Dr. Sunil Bhirud, Vice Chancellor and Dr. D. N. Sonawane, Registrar along with the members of the Board of Governance and Department Heads of various departments of COEP Tech University were present on the occasion.
During his speech, Dr Pramod Chaudhair announced a donation of Rs.1 Cr for the COEP Tech University and said that the purpose of utilization of this amount can be decided by the University administration and the Board of Governance for the benefit of the University. “Though I am not an alumni of COEP, I strongly believe in the brand equity that COEP offers. I regret that I could not finish some of the tasks. My priority was to improve the overall ranking of COEP and to build a strong alumni network. I am glad to see that things are moving in the right direction. I wish good luck to Vinayak Pai for the new responsibility.”
Vinayak Pai thanked Dr. Pramod Chaudhari for introducing him to the board of Governance of COEP Tech University as a representation of alumni in BoG and said, “My priority will be to enhance the experience that students of COEP get during their association with the University. I had an opportunity to work in a joint venture with Praj in the early days of my career. After this, I had a chance to meet Dr Pramod Chaudhari personally in 2018 in the USA. A few years ago, he invited me to join the board of governance of COEP after he came to know that I am a COEP Alumni. I feel honored to take this new responsibility.”
Dr. Sunil Bhirud, VC, COEP Tech University acknowledged the vision of Dr. Pramod Chaudhari and said, “Transformation initiative started at the university, development of Chikhali Research Park is an association with industry partners and a drive to reach out to the international alumni of COEP for the benefit of current students of COEP were some of the key elements of Dr. Chaudhari’s vision to take COEP ahead and we will try our best to carry this vision forward”.
