Pune: Employee Makes Off with Gold Ornaments Worth Rs 3.32 Crore and Rs 10 Lakh in Cash From Jewellery Shop

Raviwar Peth, 2nd January 2023: A shocking incident unfolded in the early hours of January 1 (Monday) when an employee allegedly stole gold ornaments worth Rs 3.32 crore and Rs 10 lakh in cash from Raj Casting shop in Raviwar Peth. The jeweler, Deepak Netaji Mane, reported the theft to the Faraskhana police station, leading to the registration of an FIR.

Mane, who has been a prominent figure in the Pune jewelry business for seven years, detailed the theft in his complaint. The stolen items include 5 kg 323 grams of gold jewelry, with a total value of Rs 3 crore 32 lakh 9 thousand 228, along with Rs 10 lakh 93 thousand 260 in cash.

The modus operandi appears to involve individuals with either past or current affiliations with the shop, obtaining duplicate keys to access the premises and safes. These keys were then used to open the shop’s safe, enabling the culprits to make a swift getaway with the valuable loot. See CCTV footage below:

Owner Mane promptly reported the incident to the Faraskhana police station, which has initiated an investigation led by sub-inspector Vaibhav Gaikwad. Mane, known for manufacturing jewelry not only for his business but also for fulfilling orders from various jewelers in the city, has faced a significant setback with this audacious theft.
