Pune: Electricity Cuts Impact Pimpri Chinchwad Amidst Heavy Rains; 15 Transformers Shut Down

Pimpri Chinchwad, 25th July 2024: Heavy rains have inundated the entire Pune district, causing widespread flooding, fallen trees, and water entering homes. In addition to these challenges, electricity outages have affected multiple areas in Pimpri Chinchwad since last night.

An executive engineer from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) informed Punekar News that 15 transformers in the Pimpri Chinchwad area have been shut down. The official added that electricity supply to riverside areas has been discontinued as a precautionary measure. Residents are advised to be patient as MSEDCL works to resolve the power issues.

Several areas, including Pimpri, Chinchwad, Sangvi, Pimple Saudagar, Wakad, Hinjawadi, and Ravet, are experiencing power shortages, particularly in regions near rivers or with inadequate drainage. In Hinjawadi and Wakad, electricity has been cut off in two societies due to water reaching their electricity meters.

In the Deccan area of Pune, three people died from electric shock while attempting to rescue their food cart near the riverside. In response, the Pimpri Chinchwad Executive Engineer of MSEDCL assured that all precautionary measures are in place. Residents are advised to exercise caution around electrical appliances, avoid walking through stagnant water, and stay indoors unless necessary.
