Pune: Doctor’s Gold Chain Snatched, Quick Action by Youths Leads to Arrest
Pune, 17th May 2023: A swift and courageous response from a group of young individuals led to the arrest of a robber who had snatched a gold chain from a pedestrian doctor. The incident occurred on Thursday, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The accused, identified as Mahesh Laxman Sawant from Thergaon, Wakad, was apprehended in connection with the crime. The female doctor had just left the hospital when the robber targeted her, swiftly grabbing her gold chain. Startled by the incident, she raised an alarm for help, drawing the attention of nearby individuals.
Hearing the woman’s distress, cricket players Govardhan Vilas Gogavle, Hemant Vinayak Zende, Umesh Kashid, and Abhishek Digambar Jadhav sprang into action. They immediately gave chase and successfully captured him. The culprit, Mahesh Sawant, was subsequently handed over to the Khadak police station.
The commendable bravery and vigilance displayed by these young individuals did not go unnoticed. Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Govekar and Senior Police Inspector Sangita Yadav of Khadak Police Station felicitated the heroic youths for their swift and decisive actions in apprehending the robber.
