Pune: Doctor Faces Legal Action Following Suicide of Girlfriend in Bavdhan
Bavdhan, 18th October 2024: A tragic incident occurred in the Bavdhan area of Pune, where a young woman died by suicide after reportedly being harassed by her boyfriend, Dr. Shantanu Sharad Chopra, who had allegedly lured her into a false promise of marriage.
A case has been registered against the 30-year-old doctor, a resident of Sangamvadi, Pune, following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother at the Hinjawadi police station, Pimpri Chinchwad police station.
The deceased, employed as an HR officer at a private company, had been in a relationship with Dr. Chopra, who works at a reputed hospital in Pune. According to reports, he promised to marry her but subjected her to repeated harassment. On 23rd September, he invited her to his residence, where they had an argument, leading to her being kicked out of the house at midnight.
Devastated by the ongoing harassment, the victim returned to her home in Bavdhan and took her own life. A suicide note was reportedly found, indicating that she was driven to this tragic decision due to the continuous torment inflicted by Dr. Chopra. Assistant Police Inspector Thakur is currently investigating the case further.
