Pune Division Boosts Railway Safety with Closure of 11 Level Crossing Gates

Pune, 4th January 2024: Pune Division has successfully closed 11 level crossing gates from April 2023 to date, marking a crucial step in enhancing the safe operation of trains. These closures have been part of several significant safety initiatives undertaken by Pune Division during this period.

The closure of level crossing gates is a pivotal component in ensuring the safety and punctuality of train operations. Pune Division has employed various methods, including the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROB), Road Under Bridges (RUB), and Limited Height Subways (LHS), to gradually shut down these gates.

The closure of level crossing gates not only contributes to improved punctuality but also significantly enhances safety measures. Over the course of April 2023 to the present, Pune Division has successfully closed 11 level crossing gates, contributing to a safer railway environment.

Details of the closed gates are as follows:

1. Level crossing gate No. 8 between Pune-Miraj closed from 03/01/2024.
2. Level crossing gate No. 117 between Pune-Miraj closed from 02/01/2024.
3. Level crossing gate No. 108 & 81 between Pune-Miraj and 16 between Pune-Daund, along with gate No. 20 between Miraj-Kolhapur, closed in December 2023.
4. Level crossing gate No. 130 between Pune-Miraj closed in October 2023.
5. Level crossing gate No. 23 between Pune-Miraj closed in September 2023.
6. Level crossing gate No. 14 between Pune-Daund closed in May 2023.
7. Level crossing gate No. 28 & 70 between Pune-Miraj closed in April 2023.

Apart from these closures, Pune Division has actively participated in various safety initiatives, including Railway Board’s Safety Drives, Head Quarter’s Ambush checks, Divisional Safety Drives, and Safety Seminars/Camps. These efforts, coupled with Safety Meetings and Counselling sessions, have engaged a large number of employees.
