Pune, 2nd August 2024: Manoj Jarange Patil has received relief from the Pune District Court as the arrest warrant against him has been cancelled. In today’s court session, Patil’s lawyer explained that his client’s absence at the previous hearing was due to illness, supported by medical certificates. Therefore, the arrest warrant should be canceled. The lawyer emphasized that Jarange Patil did not intend to show disrespect to the court.

Jarange Patil is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where he has been diagnosed with kidney disease. A medical certificate has been provided to this effect. Based on this, a request was made to quash the court order.

The case had been pending due to Jarange Patil’s absence despite a court order. This case is 10 years old, and efforts should be made to expedite its resolution. Superior court orders address this issue. The court noted that Jarange Patil had made objectionable statements about the court through the media. It advised that such comments, which could be seen as contempt of court, should be avoided.

Since the accused has made statements about the court or its presiding officers, it is within the judge’s discretion to take appropriate action. The court has instructed Jarange Patil to be cautious with his comments.

What’s the Matter?

A complaint was filed against Manoj Jarange Patil by Dhananjay Ghorpade from Warje, with two additional individuals named alongside him. As per the court’s order, a case was registered, and the court issued a summons for Manoj Jarange Patil to appear in court on two occasions.

On the first occasion, Patil could not attend the court in Pune due to agitation, and on the second occasion, due to illness. Hence, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against Patil and the two other individuals for failing to appear despite being summoned twice. Manoj Jarange Patil was ordered to appear before the First Class Judicial Magistrate of Pune today. Patil complied and arrived in Pune around 2 AM to attend the court.

“I Am Associated With The Play, But…”

Manoj Jarange Patil, speaking to the media in Pune before going to court, clarified certain aspects of the case. He stated, “The case involving the drama director’s fraud is in court, so I will not comment on it. However, I respect the court and am attending today. I am associated with the play that was performed in Shambhuraj Mahanatyam, but I have no involvement in the financial transactions related to that drama. The loss incurred from the Shambhu Raje play was shared among the three of us.”

“Devendra Fadnavis Has Framed Me”

Also speaking to the media, Jarange Patil once again targeted Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis. He said, “When this play was organized, we were ordinary individuals then, and we remain ordinary today. One of us promised to pay the director, and another said that he had a relationship with the director. I gave him the money, but I don’t know if he paid it. Devendra Fadnavis has framed me in this matter, even though I was not involved.”
