Pune: District Collector Reviews Plans for Vijaystambha Salutation Program at Perne Phata

Pune, 5th December 2023: District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has directed a comprehensive review of the planning for the Vijaystambha salutation ceremony scheduled at Perne Phata on January 1. Emphasizing the need for a peaceful and enthusiastic celebration, Dr. Deshmukh urged all departments to make necessary arrangements to ensure devotees are provided with essential facilities.

During a review meeting at the Collector’s Office regarding the Vijayastambha Salutation Ceremony, Dr. Deshmukh addressed key officials including Commissioner of Social Welfare Omprakash Bakoria, Director General of BARTI Sunil Vare, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokle, Additional Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma from Pune City Police, and Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Ankit Goyal.

Dr. Deshmukh highlighted the anticipated increase in the number of followers this year and stressed the importance of meticulous planning. He urged careful preparation of the traffic system and parking lot plan, specifying designated areas. Teams for sanitation and provision of temporary toilets should be appointed, and the number of tankers for drinking water increased.

The police department was instructed to plan for law and order in conjunction with traffic planning. The Public Works Department and the District Council Construction Department were tasked with road repairs. PMPML was advised to augment bus services for December 31 and January 1, ensuring adequate arrangements for refueling. Dr. Deshmukh also recommended an increase in the number of medical officers and staff compared to last year, with the option to call in manpower from outside. He suggested an augmentation of ambulances as well.

Vare urged all departments to promptly submit their demands to BARTI for the program.

The meeting covered a detailed review of decorations in the Vijayastambh area, the lighting system, stalls, pavilion construction, parking lot, traffic plan, health facilities, drinking water, road repair, construction of temporary toilets, bell carts for cleanliness, arrangement of firefighting vehicles in emergencies, electrical systems, rotation room, disaster management, and more.

The attendees included Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vijay Magar, DCP (Special Branch) R Raja, Additional Collector Ajay More, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, Sub-Divisional Officers Sneha Kiswe and Sanjay Aswale, officials from the Public Works Department, Pune Municipal Corporation, PMRDA Fire Department, NDRF, Zilla Parishad, Police Department, Transport, PMPML, Health Department, State Excise, and other relevant departments.
