Pune, April 30, 2020: After the central government allowed inter-state movement of people, the Maharashtra state government has formulated a policy to allow migrant workers, pilgrims, students and other citizens stranded in the state and outside the state to go to their desired destination.  For this, the District Collector will act as the nodal officer and all the Collectors have been instructed to make proper planning in this regard, informed the Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar.

A list of aspirants for travel will be prepared by taking information about stranded workers and individuals in the district. The process will start after the state government contacts the concerned state and they get the permission of that state. Trapped citizens will be allowed to go from here only if they have a letter of permission from the District Collector. After this, the health of these citizens will be checked. Only those who do not have symptoms of COVID or influenza will be allowed to travel.

Those who want to return will have to arrange their own transportation. The vehicles used for this journey must have a transit pass from Collector/State government with the specified route and duration. It should also contain the names and other information of all the passengers. Vehicles used for transportation will be disinfected first. Also, citizens will be accommodated in the vehicle by observing social distance. The decision regarding admission of citizens stranded outside Maharashtra in the district will be taken by the concerned District Collector and Municipal Commissioner in coordination. Citizens coming from other states to Maharashtra will have to stay in the quarantine period for 14 days.

All passengers will be medically examined. After this, as per the instructions of the concerned District Collector, these citizens will be quarantined at home or in an institutional manner, said the Divisional Commissioner Dr Mhaisekar.

Planning is being done by the Pune district administration for this. Pune District Collector Naval Kishor Ram has appealed to those who want to travel not to rush and not to panic. “At present no buses or trains will be started. Therefore, workers and citizens should not fall prey to any rumour. Also, be safe in a place where you are not leaving the house. A list of people who want to travel will be prepared by the administration for the workers and individuals stranded in the district. The process will start after Maharashtra state government contacts the concerned state and gets permission from the concerned state”, Ram said.

A 24-hour control room has been set up by the Pune district administration to resolve all the grievances of the people. Complaints should be made on toll-free number 020-26111061 or 020-26123371 or 1077 and complaints will be accepted on [email protected] and [email protected]. Apart from this, a taluka control room has also been set up.
